We asked our team around the country to share their favourite gift ideas this Christmas. You still have time to pick these up for friends or family. Or drop hints for yourself!
Gadgets
We love our lemon and lime juicer, quick and easy to clean. Great for adding a pop of flavour to dips, salads and smoothies Available in lots of kitchen shops and online here.
Podometers can be a great way to make sure you are doing enough exercise throughout the day. Some look a bit ‘industrial’. But this Bellabeat looks great and best of all, needs no charging.
This nifty hand held spiraliser is great for whipping up courgette noodles and washes in a jiffy. Find in a good kitchen supplies shop (our kitchen expert Sally recommends The Kitchen Whisk on Exchequer St) or online. Great for upping veg in a post-Christmas turkey stirfry.
This herb mill chops fresh herbs in an instant and makes it easy to add lots of fresh flavour to your food. Get online or keep an eye out for one in kitchen shops.
Books
One of our all-time favourite books is The Cultured Club from the wonderful Dearbhla Reynolds, the perfect gift for anyone interested in fermented foods, from absolute beginners to experienced fermenters.
The Little Green Spoon by healthy eating blogger Indy Power looks lovely and is crammed with tasty, healthy recipes and ideas. It’s been recommended to us by patients and team members alike. Sign up on Indy’s website for free weekly recipes.
While not all recipes meet our healthy eating criteria, this finalist in the Irish Book Awards Cookbook Of The Year competition is full of good ideas and great recipes for entertaining from our pal Niall Murphy, in Donnybrook Fair Cookery School.
All of our Nutritionists love their veg and try to share this love with patients. The ‘Veg Everyday’ and the new ‘Much More Veg’ books by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall have ideas to convert even the confirmed carnivores in your life.
‘Inspire me’ by Irish life and business coach Shane Cradock is a great book to give or receive as a gift, full of thought provoking quotes and practical wisdom. A great stocking filler.
Tasty treats and stocking fillers
We love this ginger juice, great for pepping up stirfries and drinks. Try in some warm apple juice or in chilled sparkling water with a squeeze of lemon juice for seasonal, alcohol-free drinks. Find in your local health food store.
These lip tints from Burts Bees are great for dry or chapped lips and at under €10 make a great stocking filler.
We love anything by the Irish natural skincare brand Kinvara Skincare, especially their oil cleanser and their new serum. Find in a good health food store or online.
Hampers
Forget food hampers full of stale mince pies and tins of Quality Street. For a real treat, try a ‘Get the Glow‘, ‘Get Into It Mens‘ or ‘Ultimate Foodie’ hamper from our friends at The Hopsack. Guess what we are wishing for under the tree?
