Mind your microbiome!
- Disruption of microbiota composition and functions, termed dysbiosis, has been linked to a multitude of disorders, including: bacterial vaginosis (BV), premature delivery in pregnant women, infertility, miscarriages, increased risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and recurrent vulvovaginal infections.
- The vaginal microbiome is key to managing the immune environment of the implanting embryo in conception.
- Analysis and monitoring of the vaginal microbiota is therefore extremely important for health and can be used to inform treatment plans and lifestyle factors.
What’s different about this test?
- This ground-breaking test assesses the vaginal microbiome (bacteria and yeast) – a key ecosystem for health and reproductive optimisation. Using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), this is the most technologically advanced vaginal microbiome profile to provide accurate analysis of the microbiota abundance, host inflammatory markers and pH.
Who should take this test? Anyone with any of the following symptoms should take this test:
- Difficulties conceiving
- History of recurrent miscarriage
- Immune-related fertility issues or ‘unexplained’ infertility
- Vaginal health issues including recurrent infections and / or persistent irritation
Test Results
- The test results will be returned to your nutritionist 3 weeks after receipt of the samples. Test results will be interpreted by your nutritionist and a protocol tailored accordingly
- Please note that a letter with your results may be sent to your GP
